1) What is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness is nothing more than paying attention to the present moment. But this is easier said than done. Most of the time we’re either thinking about the past or the future; rarely are we attune to what we’re doing now. Mindfulness allows us the space to recognize where are at the present moment and to be aware of what’s going on in our body and mind. In doing so, mindfulness may increase clarity, decrease anxiety, and lead us to be less reactive.
2) What’s a typical session look like?
In any given session, we cater to your specific needs. Each week may look differently based on your priorities. We’re both skilled in mindfulness techniques, meditation, visualizations, and affirmations; however, various techniques resonate differently with each person. Some students may enjoy body based or breath work, whereas others prefer more communicative or creative techniques. We tend to defer to you, believing that each of us knows best what we need.
3) Who is mindfulness for?
It’s for anyone who is interested. We’ve done sessions with students in middle school and high school, parents, individuals dealing with chronic pain, and individuals in a variety of professions, including law and finance. The tools we teach are universal, and anyone can utilize them. In fact, we use our own techniques daily to maintain our sanity!
If you are a parent, you may join your child for a session or do a session on your own. We have fun and accessible techniques for children as young as four and five.
4) Why is this service important?
There is so much pressure on us to achieve, to multi-task, and to do it all. Sometimes we forget to carve out time to nurture our well-being. Mindfulness sessions provides the tools to improve concentration and awareness, decrease anxiety, and find calm in chaos. Looking back at some of our most stressful experiences, we wish we had a service like this to help us deal with increasing pressures. That’s why we’re now offering it to you.
5) Is there homework?
No. That being said, you should feel free to practice the techniques throughout the week and experiment with them to see their effects.
6) How many sessions do you recommend?
It’s really up to you. Our sessions should not be an added stress or obligation. It should be something that you want to do, for as long as you wants to do it. However, there is no quick fix. Training the mind is a process, and we’d be happy to accompany you through this journey
7) When can we schedule you?
We do sessions during the day or after work/school. We can accommodate your schedule and meet you in a convenient location.
8) How much does it cost?
We do sessions on a sliding scale and negotiate a cost with which we both feel comfortable.
9) Do you do speaking engagements?
We do. We do workshops for schools, businesses, after school programs, or sports teams. We’d be happy to speak at any of your engagements.
